After Today’s VAT 3: Ireland ROS Cash Checklist to 23 August
19 August 2026 VAT 3 day is done or in progress — Irish employers and principals now have four days to clear ROS PAYE payments where the extension applies, July RCT, and Corporation Tax windows closing 23 August.
Revenue’s Calendar of key dates for tax professionals lists 19 August 2026 for July VAT 3 (and annual VAT 3 ending in July) together with the Return of Trading Details where the VAT accounting period ends in July. Once that pack is filed — or while it is finishing — the cash-tax focus shifts to 23 August 2026.
For ROS customers who both file and pay online, the VAT remittance often extends to the 23rd. The same Friday closes the ROS payment extension for July PAYE/PRSI/USC/LPT where employers used the online pathway after the 14 August return date, July Relevant Contracts Tax return and payment, and several Corporation Tax windows that run 1–23 August for ROS filers (1–21 for non-electronic filers).
Separate filing day from payment day
Do not treat any ROS payment extension as permission to delay workpapers. VAT analysis belongs on the 19th; cash authorisations belong before Friday bank cut-offs. Employers should already have accepted or seen deemed acceptance of the July PAYE monthly statement by 14 August — filing alone or paying outside ROS does not unlock the 23 August PAYE extension.
Bi-monthly VAT filers on the July–August period are not filing a July-only VAT 3 today; their next bi-monthly return follows Revenue’s September calendar. Confirm your authorised frequency in ROS before copying a neighbour’s diary.
Four-day sequence after VAT 3
19 August: lock July VAT 3 (and RTD where due) and confirm whether your profile unlocks the 23 August VAT remittance extension.
20–22 August: settle ROS PAYE payment authorisations, finish RCT July reconciliations, and close CT preliminary or return/balance packs due in the 1–23 window.
23 August: complete ROS PAYE payments where the extension applies, file RCT for July, and lock remaining CT actions in the electronic window.
Keep Form 11 Pay & File planning for 31 October / 18 November ROS on a separate autumn track — mid-year prep matters, but it must not displace this week’s cash-tax dates.
