Today: Ireland VAT 3 Due for the July Return
19 August 2026: Irish VAT-registered traders must file July VAT 3 (and annual VAT 3 ending in July) today — lock ROS returns, Return of Trading Details where due, and diary the 23 August payment extension where it applies.
Today — 19 August 2026 — is the statutory date on Revenue’s Calendar of key dates for tax professionals for monthly VAT 3 return and payment (if due) for July 2026, together with the Return of Trading Details where the VAT accounting period ends in July. Annual VAT 3 for the August–July cycle is on the same date where that annual period ends in July.
Revenue’s VAT guidance is clear: you must file and pay by the 19th day of the month following the end of each taxable period through ROS. For ROS customers who both file and pay online, the time limit commonly extends to the 23rd — confirm your own ROS profile. Filing the return analysis still belongs today; do not treat any payment extension as permission to delay the VAT workpapers.
What to file before close of business
Submit the July VAT 3 with T1/T2 figures reconciled to sales and purchase invoices, bank and card feeds, credit notes, and reverse-charge lines. Hospitality and catering traders still on the temporary 9% rate should confirm July lines that straddled any rate change before they finalise.
Pull the Return of Trading Details where your VAT accounting period ends in July — it shares today’s date with the VAT 3 for those traders. Leaving RTD until after payment day creates a second ROS rush in the same week as RCT and CT preliminary tax for September accounting periods.
ROS payment window and what comes next
Where your ROS profile qualifies for the electronic payment extension, diary VAT cash against 23 August while still filing the return analysis today. Confirm Direct Debit mandates and ROS authorisations so a bank cut-off does not turn a timely return into a late payment.
Bi-monthly filers on the July–August period are not filing a July-only VAT 3 today — their next bi-monthly return follows Revenue’s September calendar. Confirm your authorised frequency in ROS before treating 19 August as your due date.
Action checklist for 19 August
