Twenty-Seven Days to 30 September: Ireland August VAT IOSS

As of 3 September 2026, Irish IOSS registrants have twenty-seven days to file and pay the August 2026 Import One Stop Shop VAT return by 30 September — keep the monthly track separate from domestic VAT 3 due 19 September.

Revenue’s Calendar of key dates for tax professionals lists 30 September 2026 for the VAT IOSS monthly return and payment for August 2026. As of Thursday 3 September, Irish Import One Stop Shop (IOSS) registrants and intermediaries have twenty-seven calendar days to the August return date.

IOSS lets suppliers account for EU VAT on low-value imported consignments (intrinsic value not exceeding €150) through a monthly return to the Member State of identification instead of paying import VAT to Customs at the border. Revenue’s IOSS Tax and Duty Manual confirms the return must be filed electronically by the end of the month following the tax period, whether or not any supplies were made.

Who must diary 30 September

IOSS-registered suppliers identified in Ireland, and intermediaries acting for non-EU suppliers, must file the August 2026 monthly return and pay any VAT due by 30 September 2026.

Nil returns are mandatory when you made no IOSS supplies in the period. Missing a nil return can still trigger reminders and compliance contact — treat blank months as filing events, not quiet months.

IOSS does not replace your domestic VAT 3 obligations. Traders with both Irish VAT and IOSS registrations keep both diaries separate into the 19 September bi-monthly window and the 30 September IOSS cut-off.

Twenty-seven-day IOSS checklist

Reconcile August low-value consignments and marketplace reports to your IOSS ledger while July close-out is still fresh — do not leave first bank payment attempts for late September when ROS and banking queues build.

Confirm ROS or MyEnquiries access for the IOSS return path before mid-month leave thins coverage.

If you use an intermediary, confirm who files and who pays before the final week — split responsibility is the most common final-day failure mode.

Keep September PAYE (14 September), bi-monthly VAT (19 September), and CT1/RCT (23 September) on a separate domestic ROS calendar so August IOSS does not collide with mid-month cash days.
